2025 Fantasy Outlook
The Chargers are betting on one of Tre Harris, Quentin Johnston or Lambert-Smith to emerge as their preferred outside target for the long term. While the former options have significant draft capital attached to their resume, the rookie fifth-round pick was arguably as productive as his more highly-drafted teammates last year at Auburn, compiling 50 receptions for 981 yards and eight touchdowns in an offense that otherwise struggled to move the ball through the air consistently. At 6-1, Lambert-Smith has some loud athletic tools, including a 4.37 40-yard dash at the Combine, that make him an intriguing candidate to monitor throughout training camp. Read Past Outlooks
Flashing potential as outside WR
Lambert has been an early standout for the Chargers through the first week of training camp, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The sudden retirement of Mike Williams coupled with a minor undisclosed injury for Jalen Reagor has opened the door for both Lambert-Smith and rookie second-round pick Tre Harris to compete for a boundary wide receiver role on the first-team offense. Lambert-Smith has the prototypical size (6-foot-1) and speed (4.37 40-yard dash at 2025 NFL Combine) to be a conventional field stretcher for an offense that has struggled to find that role for years, and he figures to be in the mix for consequential playing time regardless if he's officially listed as a starter come Week 1.

Likely to play limited role
Gavino Borquez of USA Today predicts Lambert-Smith will get only 5-to-10 snaps per game during his rookie season.
ANALYSIS
Lambert-Smith's competing for playing time on the outside, but the rookie fifth-round pick out of Auburn will likely find himself behind Tre Harris, Quentin Johnston and Mike Williams on the depth chart, with Ladd McConkey locked in as the starter in the slot. Even with the oft-injured Mike Williams currently hurt, Lambert-Smith's fighting an uphill battle to earn a significant role.
