Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Williams worked in a rotational role with the Eagles last season, but after signing the defensive tackle to a franchise-record four-year, $104 million contract, the Patriots are counting on the 2021 third-rounder to anchor their defensive line this season and beyond. With that in mind, look for the 6-foot-3, 290-pounder to easily eclipse his 2024 stats (24 tackles, 5.0 sacks) with the expanded workload that's coming his way. Read Past Outlooks
Lands on IR as expected
The Patriots placed Williams (ankle) on injured reserve Saturday.
ANALYSIS
The fifth-year defensive tackle suffered a high-ankle sprain during the Patriots' 27-14 win over the Jets, and the injury is severe enough for Williams to go on injured reserve. He'll be required to miss at least the next four games, and with the Patriots on a bye Week 14, that makes Week 17 against the Jets on Sunday, Dec. 28 the earliest he can return from injured reserve. Cory Durden and Eric Gregory are poised for more snaps on the defensive line for as long as Williams is out of action.

The Eagles selected Williams in the third round of the 2021 draft, and he went on to play a rotational role in his rookie season. He played in all 17 games, starting two, and was on the field for 41 percent of the team's defensive snaps, recording two sacks and 30 tackles. Continued development could see his role expand this year, but he's still stuck behind at least Fletcher Cox and Javon Hargrave on the tackle depth chart, as well as potentially 2022 13th-overall pick Jordan Davis.

Second-best free agent per Athletic
David DeChant, Jourdan Rodrigue and Vic Tafur of The Athletic rank Williams as the second-best free agent available in the 2025 offseason in Thursday's updated free agency rankings.
ANALYSIS
Despite modest sack numbers, Williams is elite at generating pressure from the interior, as his 14.2 percent pressure rate during the 2024 regular season was third-highest among interior defensive linemen with at least 100 pass rush attempts. The Athletic staff compares Williams to Malik Jackson, whose contract in the 2016 offseason was for the equivalent of $25 million per year, and Williams is well positioned to get at least $20 million per season on his next deal.
