2025 Fantasy Outlook
Lawrence’s 2024 season was cut short by an injury to his non-throwing shoulder. In his full nine games, his fantasy output was on par with the previous year, which is to say, only borderline useful in 12-team leagues. Only twice did he exceed 20 fantasy points. Lawrence’s average target depth jumped to 9.3 yards (2nd) as a career-high 38 percent of his attempts traveled beyond 10 yards (4th). That helps explain why his on-target and completion percentages were three-year lows, with the latter (60.6 percent) being second to last in the league. He might not get as many downfield opportunities this year under new head coach Liam Coen, but the offense should at least be more efficient. With Coen as his OC last year in Tampa Bay, Baker Mayfield saw his average target depth drop to 6.8 yards with an emphasis on the screen game, yet he had career highs for YPT (7.9) and TD passes (41). WR Brian Thomas returns after a standout rookie season, and the Jaguars drafted two-way player Travis Hunter second overall, potentially giving Lawrence one of the top wideout duos in the league. Jacksonville also signed Dyami Brown after his huge playoff run last year with the Commanders, while failed 2024 free-agent addition Gabe Davis was released. The offensive line added C Robert Hainsey and G Patrick Mekari, but it’s still likely far behind what Coen had in Tampa Bay last year. That will make Coen’s task harder, but the overall situation should still be a big upgrade over what Lawrence dealt with last season. Read Past Outlooks

Looking sharp at OTAs
Lawrence (shoulder) has impressed coaches throughout OTAs and has been a quick adapter of new head coach Liam Coen's offensive scheme, John Oehser of the Jaguars' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Coen singled out Lawrence's "quick decisions" in 11-on-11 red-zone work as praiseworthy, also noting that the fifth-year pro "has done a nice job with his footwork," an area of emphasis for the new offensive scheme. As Oehser notes, the 2021 first overall pick is currently learning his third offensive system in five seasons, but there's reason to be confident in Coen's scheme being the best fit of the bunch for Lawrence, given his track record as offensive coordinator for the Rams and Buccaneers. Lawrence is over six months removed from surgery undergone to address an AC joint sprain in his left, non-throwing shoulder, and he remains on track to be fully cleared for the start of training camp. Rookie No. 2 overall pick Travis Hunter has begun the offseason focusing on the offensive side of the ball, providing Lawrence another potential star wideout to join 2024 first-round phenom Brian Thomas. Jacksonville also inked Dyami Brown to a one-year deal back in March, with returnees Parker Washington and TE Brenton Strange closing out a pass-catching corps that saw Christian Kirk, Evan Engram (shoulder) and Gabe Davis (knee) all depart.

2022
2021
Lawrence was decent enough last season (QB12 in fantasy) but failed to back up his promising 2022 when he finished as QB7. His TD pass rate decreased, his INT rate increased and he had no more than 15 fantasy points in half of his 16 games. Lawrence dealt with numerous injuries despite missing just once game, and he tied for the league lead with seven lost fumbles. But Lawrence's accuracy was consistent with the year before, and he actually improved his downfield passing. He threw deep on 11.9 percent of his attempts (fifth) as his average target depth increased to a career-high 8.2 yards, and on attempts of 20-plus yards his 55.7 percent on-target rate ranked seventh. Lawrence was hurt by a below-average 21.4 TD percentage in the red zone. Positive regression in that area would buy him some extra TDs this year. WR Brian Thomas, the 23rd overall pick in this year's draft, should also help in the red zone. At 6-3, 209, the former basketball star has a wide catch radius and can also get behind defenses with 4.33 speed -- blazing for this size. The Jaguars also brought in free-agent acquisition Gabe Davis, giving the strong-armed Lawrence two significant vertical threats. Calvin Ridley left in free agency and Zay Jones was released, but WR Christian Kirk, TE Evan Engram and RB Travis Etienne all return, providing Lawrence with perhaps his best supporting cast yet. The 24-year-old also adds some rushing stats, averaging 321 yards and 3.7 TDs per year. If Lawrence is to become a fantasy stalwart, this is the season.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Picking up Coen's scheme quickly
Lawrence has impressed Jacksonville's coaching staff in OTAs and adapted quickly to new head coach Liam Coen's offensive scheme, John Oehser of the Jaguars' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Lawrence is hoping to bounce back under Coen, who helped turn around another underperforming first overall pick in Baker Mayfield as Tampa Bay's offensive coordinator. Jacksonville's first overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft was limited to a 2-8 record with 11 touchdown passes and seven interceptions in 2024 before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury and concussion. Lawrence is still recovering from shoulder surgery but is on track to be cleared by training camp.
