2025 Fantasy Outlook
Nwosu's breakout 2022 campaign in which he posted 9.5 sacks is a distant memory after he played exactly six games in each of the last two seasons, totaling 30 tackles and 3.0 sacks. The 28-year-old underwent offseason knee surgery, and while the details are unclear, he started training camp on the active/PUP list and may not be ready by Week 1. Nevertheless, during Nwosu's time away from the field, both Boye Mafe and Derick Hall broke out as impressive edge rushers, making Nwosu's path to a full-time role less likely in 2025. Following a breakout 2022 season where Nwosu piled up 9.5 sacks and landed a three-year, $45 million contract, the veteran linebacker's season was marred by a pectoral injury that ended his season after six games. The 27-year-old has made a full recovery and is set up well to bounce back now that Boye Mafe has blossomed into a proven pass-rusher on the other side of the line. There's some risk that Nwosu's 2022 campaign was his peak, which could lead to Darrell Taylor and second-year LB Derick Hall to eat into his snaps. But it's more likely Nwosu is the real deal and can approach 10 sacks once again.
Nwosu took advantage of increased opportunity with the Seahawks in 2022, as he posted career highs in tackles (67) and sacks (9.5) while averaging 51.5 defensive snaps per game. He has one year left on his contract and stands to receive a significant increase in pay if he can repeat that effort this season. Nwosu should have every opportunity to do so as long as he can hold off 2022 second-round pick Boye Mafe - who had a mediocre rookie season - and 2023 second-rounder Derick Hall.
Nwosu finally handled a full-time starting role for the Chargers last season and finished with five sacks, 17 QB hits and 30 pressures through 17 games. The 25-year-old was promptly rewarded with a two-year, $20 million bridge deal in Seattle. Darrell Taylor should have a starting edge role locked up, and Nwosu will need to battle veteran Shelby Harris to secure the other side, but rookie second-round pick Boye Mafe eventually could make some noise, too.
Nwosu easily had his best season to date, establishing new career highs in tackles (33), QB hits (11), sacks (4.5) and pass deflections (two). The Chargers are counting on the 24-year-old taking another step forward with longtime pass rusher Melvin Ingram now elsewhere.

Looking to shine in new role
LBSeattle Seahawks
June 11, 2022
Nwosu feels that his new situation in Seattle is "Like a breath of fresh air," that will allow him to "really be able to shine and put my name out there," after four years in a limited role with the Chargers, Michael Baca of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Seahawks certainly feel that Nwosu is ready to be a full-time starting pass rusher after signing him to a two-year, $20 million contract this offseason. The 25-year-old started to shoulder a larger role during his final season with the Chargers in 2021, starting 15 of 17 games and registering career highs with 40 tackles and five sacks while playing 744 defensive snaps. Nwosu has flashed the potential to be an effective pass rusher with 15 career sacks, but he will have the opportunity to show his overall versatility in new Seattle's newly implemented defensive system under first-year coordinator Clint Hurtt.
