NHL DFS Picks: DraftKings Top Plays and Strategy for Thursday, January 15

Thursday has 10 games scheduled, including four at 7 p.m. ET, two at 8 p.m. ET, one at 8:30 p.m. ET, two at 9:00 p.m. ET and one at 9:30 p.m. ET. All game lines and odds used below come courtesy of the DraftKings Sportsbook.

SLATE PREVIEW

Washington (vs. San Jose), Edmonton (vs. NY Islanders), Columbus (vs. Vancouver), Boston (vs. Seattle) and Minnesota (vs. Winnipeg) are the biggest favorites on the Moneyline. The Over/Under for Canucks-Blue Jackets, Canadiens-Sabres, Sharks-Capitals, Islanders-Oilers and Maple Leafs-Golden Knights is 6.5. The Jets-Wild matchup projects 5.5 goals, while the other contests anticipate 6.0 goals.

GOALIES

Spencer Knight, CHI vs. CGY ($7,900): Knight has won three of four starts going into Thursday night's action while stopping 114 of the 125 shots he has faced. He posted a 33-save shutout in a 4-0 win against the Flames on Nov. 7.

Joseph Woll, TOR at VGK ($7,500): Woll has stopped 91 of the 95 shots he has faced during his three-game winning streak. He has gone 6-0-1 with a 2.65 GAA and a .914 save percentage in his past eight appearances. Toronto has allowed the most shots per game (31.4) in the league, giving Woll considerable upside if he remains hot.

Connor Hellebuyck, WPG at MIN ($7,200): Hellebuyck hasn't rounded back into form, yet, but he has won his last two outings while stopping 47 of 54 shots. He has won seven of his past eight starts against the Wild, allowing two goals or fewer six times.

VALUE PLAYS/ONE-OFFS

Kirill Marchenko, CBJ at VAN ($7,100): Marchenko has two goals on 21 shots and seven points in his last six outings. He has notched six tallies, 17 shots and three assists in his previous six appearances against the Canucks.

Elias Pettersson, VAN vs. CBJ ($5,900): Pettersson has two goals on seven shots in two games going into Thursday night's action. He has amassed six goals, four assists and 15 shots on net in his last six appearances against the Blue Jackets.

Mark Stone, VGK vs. TOR ($5,900): Stone has eight goals and six assists during his nine-game point streak. He has six power-play (three goals, three assists) points and 20 shots on target during that stretch.

FORWARD LINE STACKS

Capitals vs. Sharks

Alex Ovechkin (W - $7,800), Dylan Strome (C - $6,700), Ethen Frank (W - $3,800)

Ovechkin has five goals on 16 shots and one assist in his last five outings. Strome has two helpers, including one on the power play, and six shots in two games going into Thursday night's action. Frank has potted four goals on 13 shots over his three-game point streak.

Washington's top line powered the team to a 3-2 comeback win in overtime against Montreal on Tuesday. The trio has plenty of upside against a San Jose club that has allowed the most goals per game (4.11) since Dec. 1 and the second-most shots per game (31.0) in the league.

Penguins vs. Flyers

Sidney Crosby (C - $8,300), Bryan Rust (W - $6,800), Rickard Rakell (W - $5,800)

Entering Thursday's slate, Crosby, Rakell and Rust haven't found the scoresheet in three consecutive contests, but they were all riding hot streaks before their respective slumps. Crosby had five goals on 18 shots and nine assists during his eight-game point spree. Rust had four goals, 15 shots and four helpers over a six-game point streak, and Rakell had two goals on 15 shots and two assists across his three-game point streak.

Pittsburgh's top line has bounce-back appeal against a Philadelphia team that is coming off a 5-2 loss to Buffalo on Wednesday. Crosby and Rust have combined for four goals and seven points in two games versus the Flyers this season.

DEFENSEMEN

Zach Werenski, CBJ vs. VAN ($9,000): Werenski has amassed three goals, seven assists, 23 shots on net and five blocked shots in seven games since returning to the lineup from a lower-body injury. He has seven multipoint performances in his past 12 outings, giving him eight goals and 12 helpers during that span.

Brock Faber, MIN vs. WPG ($5,200): Faber has collected two goals, five assists, 13 shots and 14 blocks during his five-game point streak. He has registered two goals, three points and 11 shots in three previous outings against the Jets this campaign.
