NHL Game Slate Preview for Thursday Night
Colorado (vs. Ottawa), Carolina (vs. Anaheim), Vegas (vs. Columbus) and Detroit (vs. Vancouver) are the biggest favorites on the Moneyline. The Over/Under for Ducks-Hurricanes, Devils-Penguins, Oilers-Jets, Senators-Avalanche and Blue Jackets-Golden Knights is 6.5 goals. The Canucks-Red Wings, Sabres-Rangers and Maple Leafs-Flyers matchups anticipate 6.0 goals, while the remainder of the contests expect 5.5 goals.
Top Goalie Picks - Recent Win Streaks and Save Percentages
Ilya Sorokin, NYI at NSH ($7,800): Sorokin is coming off a 44-save performance in Tuesday's 9-0 win over New Jersey. He has won six of his last eight outings while stopping 251 of 267 shots for a .940 save percentage.
Joseph Woll, TOR at PHI ($7,600): Woll made 31 saves in a 4-1 victory over Florida on Tuesday. He has won five of his past six starts and made 30 stops in a 3-2 triumph over the Flyers last season.
Value Player Plays - Offensive Upside/Matchup Opportunities
Tage Thompson, BUF at NYR ($7,200): Entering Thursday night's action, Thompson has amassed nine goals on 43 shots and 16 points in 13 games. He has four goals, 16 shots on net and one helper in his last four appearances against the Rangers.
Elias Pettersson, VAN at DET ($6,100): Pettersson has picked up a point in four of his last five games, collecting three goals on 12 shots and one assist. He has two tallies and one helper over his three-game point streak. Pettersson has amassed nine points, including eight assists, in his past four meetings with the Red Wings.
Brock Nelson, COL vs. OTT ($5,600): Nelson has accounted for five goals (three on the power play), three assists and 17 shots in his last five appearances. Dating back to Nov. 29, he has potted 13 goals in 18 games while supplying nine assists and 52 shots on target.
High Impact Forward Line Stacks to Target in DFS
Carolina Hurricanes vs. Anaheim Ducks - 7:00 p.m. ET
Nikolaj Ehlers (W - $5,700), Sebastian Aho ($6,900), Andrei Svechnikov (W - $6,200)
Ehlers has compiled three goals on seven shots and five assists during his four-game point streak. Aho has lit the lamp three times on 14 shots while adding five helpers in his past four outings. Svechnikov has notched two goals, 13 shots and six assists in four contests going into Thursday night's action.
The red-hot top line of the Hurricanes should remain productive against a Ducks team that has surrendered the most goals per game (3.67) in the league this season.
Vegas Golden Knights vs. Columbus Blue Jackets - 10:00 p.m. ET
Mitch Marner (C - $5,700), Mark Stone (W - $6,300), Pavel Dorofeyev (W - $5,700)
Marner snapped a three-game skid without a point with a two-assist performance in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime win over Winnipeg. He had a five-game point streak before the slump, earning three goals and five assists. Stone has found the back of the net in five consecutive contests, including twice with the man advantage, while registering 11 shots. Dorofeyev has generated one goal on eight shots and four helpers in his past five appearances.
The second line of Vegas won't break the bank as a salary cap investment, and they possess plenty of offensive potential against a Columbus squad that has allowed the sixth-most goals per game (3.36) and the third-most shots per game (31.1) this campaign.
Defenseman Value - Breakout Performances and Budget Buys
Lane Hutson, MTL vs. FLA ($5,600): Hutson has accumulated three goals, eight assists, 11 shots and 11 blocks in his last seven appearances. He has four multi-point efforts during that span, including two in the past four games. Hutson has nine helpers and six shots on goal in five previous matches against Florida.
K'Andre Miller, CAR vs. ANA ($3,400: Miller has compiled two goals, four assists, seven shots and three blocks in his past six outings. He is coming off a three-point effort against Dallas on Tuesday, and he has plenty of bang for the buck upside if he remains hot for Thursday's slate.
