Losing streak hits five
FeatherweightUFC
July 12, 2025
Kattar lost to Steve Garcia via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Nashville.
ANALYSIS
That's Kattar's fifth straight defeat dating back to June 2022 and will likely spell the end of his time with the company. His previous four defeats were against grapplers and high-level opposition (Youssef Zalal, Aljamain Sterling, Arnold Allen, Josh Emmett). While Garcia is no slouch himself, this is the type of fight Kattar used to thrive in -- a stand-up affair against a guy that would be willing to go blow-for-blow with him. It played out exactly that way, but Calvin was unable to get anything going. He appeared hesitant to engage for whatever reason. The odds are strongly against the 37-year-old Massachusetts native getting another shot with the UFC.

Set to face Steve Garcia
FeatherweightUFC
May 6, 2025
Kottar will face Steve Garcia in a featherweight bout for the UFC event scheduled for July 12, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Kottar has looked like a shadow of his former self in recent fights, and he's dropped his past four outings. His last win came more than three years ago, and he'll look to end that skid in this matchup.
Suffers fourth straight loss
FeatherweightUFC
February 15, 2025
Kattar lost to Youssef Zalal via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
We last saw Kattar last April, at which point he couldn't defend a takedown in a loss to Aljamain Sterling. He was much better in that area this evening, stuffing all eight of Zalal's attempts, but he still couldn't get anything going on the feet until the closing minutes. Zalal kept sliding side to side, and Calvin had zero answers. He was credited with just 38 significant strikes. Set to turn 37 years of age in late-March, Kattar looks like a shell of his former self. The speed and footwork have evaporated. Calvin has lost four in a row dating back to June 2022. His last win came more than three years ago.
Needs to bounce back
FeatherweightUFC
January 14, 2025
Kattar (undisclosed) will take on Youssef Zalal in a featherweight matchup at UFC Vegas 102 on Feb. 15, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Kattar is as entertaining of a fighter as the UFC has in its featherweight division, but he's unfortunately lost four of his last five, including three in a row (albeit all against elite competition). The UFC certainly isn't making things any easier on him, as he now draws a fighter in Zalal who is riding a three-fight winning streak and on the verge of making the 145-pound rankings. Kattar has the advantage of volume striking, but Zalal has been a beast on the mat of late, with all three of his recent wins coming by way of submission in the first two rounds. Kattar does have a takedown defense rate of 72 percent, but he was taken down an astounding eight times in his last trip to the cage, a loss to Aljamain Sterling.
No longer fighting Kyle Nelson
FeatherweightUFC
August 3, 2024
Kattar will no longer take on Kyle Nelson at a UFC event on Sep. 7, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear why Kattar's bout was cancelled, but it robs the fighter of his chance to snap his three-fight losing streak. His most recent loss came to Aljamain Sterling in April. It appears he'll have to wait a little longer to try and get back on the winning side of the octagon.
Set to fight Kyle Nelson
FeatherweightUFC
June 7, 2024
Kattar will face Kyle Nelson in a featherweight bout in a UFC event on Sep. 7, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Kattar returned to the octagon for the first time since late 2022 with a loss to Aljamain Sterling via unanimous decision on April, and there's no question he'll aim to shake off that fight and get back to winning ways. Kattar doesn't have a lot of things going his way, however. He recently turned 36 years of age and has lost three straight and four of his last five.
