Dealing with knock
DLiverpool
December 5, 2025
Gomez is dealing with a knock received against West Ham United but that doesn't create a doubt on his availability since he started in Wednesday's 1-1 draw against Sunderland, coach Arne Slot said in the press conference. "Joe got a knock in the West Ham game but was still able to start. He couldn't make the full 90 minutes but I think he will be able to train again today. Yesterday was a recovery day for most of them, today we will train again and let's see where they are."
ANALYSIS
Gomez has been dealing with a knock since the victory against West Ham United and was able to start against the Black Cats on Wednesday. The defender is expected to train on Friday and should be available for Saturday's clash against Leeds United, although he will likely be monitored in the coming hours to see if that knock doesn't worsen. That said, with Conor Bradley likely back from a muscular injury, his presence in the squad will be less important for the Reds, as he should find back a backup role in defense.

Close to playing meaningful minutes
DLiverpool
November 27, 2025
Gomez is "close" to playing meaningful minutes, manager Arne Slot told media during Thursday's press conference. "He's close," said Slot. "He could have been involved yesterday as well in terms of minutes. But when we are 2-1 or 3-1 down, I tend to make offensive substitutions. And for him to start a game is also definitely a possibility."

Receives injection
DLiverpool
November 25, 2025
Gomez received an injection and has been unable to train normally, but is still fit moving forward, according to manager Arne Slot. "Normally, I wouldn't go into detail maybe that much, but he had an injection last week on his knee. So, that means that's normally not because you don't feel anything. Although, he is in the group tomorrow, as he was on Saturday. But [he] wasn't able to train last week every single time."

Ramping up fitness
DLiverpool
August 21, 2025
Gomez is ramping up his fitness ahead of Monday's match against Newcastle after an Achilles injury limited him in the offseason, according to manager Arne Slot. "Joe Gomez is definitely one of them, but for him to already play 20 minutes. That is already quite a lot. I wouldn't say he has had a setback, but he wasn't able to train three days in a row completely with the team. This is completely normal when you have been out for so long. He is training with the team, so let's see where he is and if he can be involved on Monday. You cannot prepare for two injuries in one position."

Set for January departure?
DLiverpool
October 2, 2025
Liverpool could be willing to let Gomez leave in January, according to CaughtOffside.
ANALYSIS
Liverpool were close to parting ways with Gomez in the summer, but they chose to keep him around to add depth at the center-back position. However, the former England defender has barely played in 2025/26, and now the Reds would be open to letting him leave in the January transfer window, as long as they can sign a replacement first. Milan are keen on making a move for Gomez.
