Marlins at Phillies
Look, obviously the Phillies have the much better team. It sure feels like we could be headed for a Phillies-Yankees World Series, which as a Mets fan is.......not my optimal matchup. But enough about me! This game means very little to the Phillies. Bryce Harper has not played all week and there's no reason to rush him back. Trea Turner remains on the IL. Kyle Schwarber should play, and the Phillies blasted 8 homers last night, but they face a tougher task today. Marlins starter Janson Junk is hardly an ace, but he's had a surprisingly competent season for Miami. He's got a 4.27 ERA and 1.14 WHIP, and most encouragingly has just a 3% BB% and has coincidentally yielded only 8 homers all season over 105.1 IP. He's pitched particularly well in his last 2 starts, yielding just 4 ER and 1 BB in 13 IP.
The Phillies will counter with most likely their piggyback combo of Walker's that they don't want to have to use in the postseason. Taijuan Walker has a 4.79 SIERA, 1.39 WHIP, 15.5% K% and 7.3% BB%. Meanwhile Walker Buehler checks in at 5.12 SIERA, 1.53 WHIP, 16.5% K% and 10.6% BB%. I'll give credit where due however as in two appearences with Philly in this piggyback roll he's 2-0 and yielded just 1 ER in 8.2 IP. On the other hand its a really small sample and he likely got a bit fortunate as his SIERA is 5.09. Buehler is slated to go first and Walker presumably second, though its possible its the underside of the Phillies bullpen instead.
I like the Marlins as a plus money shot here.

Rockies at Mariners
Seattle just clinched the AL West last night, but still has incentive as they look to wrap up a 1st round bye and perhaps the Number 1 seed. They have the easiest oppoenent in the sport, the Road Rockies. Colorado has gone 18-49 away from home, with a -30.4% ROI as per VSiN.com
The Seattle ML is a bit steep at -220 considering their ace starter Bryan Woo can not go tonight and they'll replace him with the very uninspiring Emerson Hancock. So let's attack this one with some Mariners bats. They get to face Bradley Blalock, who has a 9.16 ERA and 1.88 WHIP in 55 IP. Yes he does not have to pitch at Coors tonight, but he's not exactly nails on the road either with a 5.61 ERA and 1.40 WHIP.
Julio Rodriguez is on fire lately and in the 2nd half of the season overall. Since the All-Star break he's slashed .296 /.341/.576 with 144 total bases in 62 games (2.32/game). Oh and there's this Cal Raleigh guy with 60 homers who's swinging for the downs as he tries to set the AL homer mark. Lets take shots with the two of them.
