Patriots vs. Jets Betting Picks & Props
Breece Hall 15+ receiving yards (-120 DraftKings) for 1 Unit
The Browns have struggled on offense, but their defense has played well. When Hall faced them last week, he still produced 83 rushing yards on 21 carries. While he was only targeted one time in the game, he turned it into a 42-yard touchdown. That marked his fifth game of the season with at least 30 receiving yards.
The Patriots defense control the ground game, allowing just 3.29 yards per carry to running backs. However, they have allowed the most receptions to the position in the league. As bad as the Jets' passing attack has been, this is still a favorable spot for Hall to rack up receiving yards.
Hunter Henry anytime touchdown scorer (+140 FanDuel) for 1 Unit
This will mark the first game of the season that the Patriots will play without Hooper. Even with Hooper in the lineup, Henry has logged at least 50 offensive snaps in eight of their 10 games. Henry already has four touchdown receptions, doubling his total from last season. Helping his cause has been his nine red zone targets. Of those nine targets, four of them came from inside the five-yard line.
The Jets' defense is compromised after they traded away Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams. Even before they left, the Jets gave up seven touchdowns to tight ends. That is tied for the second-most in the league. Given the plus odds, this wager is a risk worth taking.
Tyler Johnson over 20.5 receiving yards (-114 FanDuel) for 1 Unit
It's slim pickings at wide receiver for the Jets with Wilson out. They acquired Adonai Mitchell in the Colts trade that involved Gardner, but he didn't play last week. Given that he has now had more than a week to learn the playbook, he could take the field for this matchup. Other options at wide receiver for the Jets include Arian Smith, Allen Lazard and Isaiah Williams.
While the above names leave a lot to be desired, Johnson has shown some upside. He failed to catch his lone target last week against the Browns, but he had at least three receptions and 60 receiving yards in both of the previous two games. For the season, he has a total of four games with at least 31 receiving yards. He doesn't need a lot of targets to have a good chance of reaching this over, given that his average depth of target for the season is 13.3 yards.
Patriots vs. Jets Prediction
Crazy things can happen on Thursday Night Football. If this game was being played on a Sunday or Monday, taking the Patriots to cover the spread would feel a lot better. It's still probably the play here, but it also wouldn't be shocking if the Jets covered on the short week.
Patriots 27, Jets 13
