2025 Fantasy Outlook
Gesicki re-signed with the Bengals in March for three years and $25.5 million, after catching 65 passes for 665 yards and two TDs on 83 targets in 2024, ranking eighth among tight ends in receptions and 10th in yards. He had only 606 receiving yards over the preceding two seasons combined while playing for the Dolphins and Patriots, but that was after he topped 700 yards in both 2020 and 2021 with Miami. The new contract keeps him in one of the NFL's top passing offenses, albeit as a distant third option behind WRs Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. Only 10 of Gesicki’s 83 targets last season came in the red zone, and he has just 22 touchdowns through seven NFL seasons, in part because subpar blocking often keeps him off the field near the goal line. On the other hand, availability has been a strong point for the 6-foot-6 TE, playing 115 of a possible 116 regular-season games since he entered the NFL in 2018 as a second-round pick. No longer dealing with injury
Gesicki (hamstring) is not listed on Wednesday's injury report, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Gesicki missed much of August due to a hamstring injury, which gave Noah Fant an opportunity to handle expanded first-team reps at tight end, but he's back to full health ahead of Sunday's regular-season opener on the road against Cleveland. With premier target hogs Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins atop the wide receiver depth chart and backfield mates Chase Brown and Samaje Perine both boasting a three-down skillset, Gesicki has a difficult path to earning consistent target volume on a weekly basis, especially with Fant now offering competition. He is still, however, the favorite to lead the Bengals' tight end position in targets after having inked a three-year, $25.5 million extension with the team this offseason.

After a five-year stint in Miami that included two seasons over 700 yards, Gesicki struggled last year in New England, posting just 244 yards and two touchdowns despite suiting up for all 17 games. He’ll be looking to bounce back in 2024 on a one-year contract with the Bengals. Blocking isn’t the 6-foot-6 tight end’s strong suit, but Joe Burrow’s likely to capitalize on Gesicki’s receiving ability in a way that Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe weren’t able to last year. The Bengals had four tight ends combine for 115 targets in 2023, Hayden Hurst had the second-most yards of his career with 414 in 2022, and C.J. Uzomah set career highs with 493 yards and five touchdowns in 2021. Gesicki has shown a higher ceiling than those previous Cincinnati TEs and projects to top the depth chart, but his shortcomings as a blocker could keep him off the field in key red-zone situations and cut into his production.

Gesicki signed a three-year, $22.5 million extension with the Bengals in March after a successful first season in Cincinnati in 2024, during which Gesicki caught 65 of 83 targets for 665 yards. The imminent addition of Fant could lead to a decrease in targets for Gesicki, as Fant has averaged 70 targets and 550 yards in his six NFL regular-season campaigns.
