I've warned that this time of year is tricky to navigate and yesterday's results along with today's schedule are proof of that. Texas Tech's dominance managed to give us a 1-2 day yesterday, but we are still a smoking 19-11 on the year. With today's very small slate, I'll be very happy to escape with a 2-1 day to neutralize yesterday's results. Let's do it.

Charleston Southern Buccaneers vs South Carolina State 
Today's schedule is "blessed" with more than a couple teams that sit at #350 or worse in the KenPom rankings. At #351, the winless Bulldogs are one of those teams. Against teams in the 200s quadrant, SCSU is 0-4 with an average loss of 11 points. Southern is 2-0 against teams in the 300s with wins of 10 and 12, which means the Bucs have proven this line is not too large for them to cover. Charleston Southern by double-digits.

Southern Jaguars at Texas Longhorns 
Southern has done well as a large dog this year in buy games. The Jaguars compete by playing fast and sending waves of bodies at teams and that philosophy has served them well, most evident in taking #48 Washington to double OT a couple of weeks ago. Texas has played a very uneven schedule with four games against Top 100 teams (1-3) and four games against teams in the 300s (4-0). At #200, the Jags sits squarely in the middle. In general, Southern is excellent as underdogs while Texas has struggled to cover as large home favorites. The Horns also have a trip to Storrs coming up later this week to take on UCONN, so this game is a classic sandwich letdown game.

Kansas State Wildcats vs Mississippi Valley St. Delta Devils 
After their 5-0 start, the Purple Cats hit a wall and have now lost four straight, including a puzzling, 16-point home loss to #117 Bowling Green on December 1. Needless to say, the Wildcats are in a need of a feel-good win.....lucky for them, the worst team in Division 1 comes a-calling tonight. The Delts are perennially outmanned and rarely competitive in buy games, and this year might be the worst of the worst. In four games against Top 150 competition, MVSU has suffered losses of 51, 48, 32, and 36. K-State wants to play fast and will be able to play to their favored pace tonight, so while this number is enormous, I don't think it is high enough for a team that needs a big win tonight.
