Cincinnati Open Tennis Picks: Sinner vs. Alcaraz
Jannik Sinner (-200) vs. Carlos Alcaraz (+150)
After splitting the last two Grand Slam finals, the world's two best tennis players will face off in another important championship match Monday. This one is a step down from their recent French Open classic and Wimbledon clash, but it will still carry plenty of narrative weight in this rivalry. Sinner has had far better hard-court results than Alcaraz against the rest of the field over the past two years, but Alcaraz had Sinner's number on all surfaces until recently, as Sinner's four-set win at Wimbledon snapped a five-match Alcaraz winning streak in a head-to-head that currently stands at 8-5 in Alcaraz's favor overall, including 5-2 on hard courts.
Sinner hasn't dropped a set en route to the final, though he also hasn't faced a top-20 opponent, while Alcaraz has been pushed to three sets twice but also beat two top-10 seeds. The battles between Sinner's relentless power and consistency off the ground vs. Alcaraz's variety and flare tend to produce plenty of unforgettable highlights, and many of their matches have been decided by just a handful of points. Sinner's ability to get a few extra free points with his serve could prove to be the difference on these quick hard courts, as Alcaraz will likely have to work a little harder to hold. Something to keep in mind in this matchup is that a hot start doesn't often translate to sustained success when these two face off, as the winner of the first set has gone 1-5 in the last six Sinner-Alcaraz clashes.
Cincinnati Open Men's Final Prediction: Sinner def. Alcaraz 6-3, 6-7, 6-4
Cincinnati Open Tennis Picks: Swiatek vs. Paolini
Iga Swiatek (-475) vs. Jasmine Paolini (+350)
Swiatek was struggling with her game earlier in 2025, but the best player of this generation is back to playing like it recently, as she's a match away from adding a first Cincinnati Open title to her first career Wimbledon triumph in July. The No. 3 seed hasn't dropped a set en route to the final here. Paolini's trying to secure her second WTA 1000 title of 2025. The seventh-seeded Italian took out struggling No. 2 seed Coco Gauff in the quarterfinals but hasn't faced another top-25 seed in this tournament.
This has been a nice run for Paolini, but Swiatek's the overwhelming favorite Monday for a few reasons. The Pole has dominated their head-to-head 5-0 (2-0 on hard), with Paolini winning more than four games in only one of those five encounters. The 5-foot-4 Paolini simply lacks the weapons to consistently disrupt Swiatek's rhythm, while Swiatek's nearly unbeatable once she settles into a match and gets on a roll. Swiatek also tends to play her best tennis on the biggest stages, with a 23-5 record in WTA Tour finals, including a staggeringly strong 16-2 mark in the championship matches of Grand Slam or WTA 1000 events. Their most recent matchup was a 6-1, 6-3 grass-court win for Swiatek at Bad Homburg leading up to Wimbledon this year, while the most consequential previous encounter between Swiatek and Paolini went Iga's way, 6-2, 6-1, in the final of last year's French Open.
Cincinnati Open Women's Fnal Prediction: Swiatek def. Paolini 6-2, 6-4
