WNBA DFS Showdown Picks and Lineup Building Strategy

The Liberty (17-9) and the Sun (4-21) meet at Mohegan Sun Arena, and New York looks to maintain its dominance in the series. Since Sept. 26, 2023, New York has won seven of eight meetings, including a 100-52 rout at Barclays Center in Brooklyn in the first meeting of this season on June 1.

In that earlier matchup this year, the Liberty shot 62.3 percent, but they were also much healthier at the time. New York has an extensive injury list, headlined by Breanna Stewart (leg), who has been ruled out for Friday. Isabelle Harrison and Stephanie Talbot should see increased roles in Stewart's absence.

The Sun routed the Valkyries on Sunday, then lost 101-85 to the visiting Storm on Monday. Still, Connecticut is good for at least 75 points in four of the past five games, providing surprising decent DFS value lately.

Last time out against the Storm, Bria Hartley logged a team-best 17 points with four assists and a pair of three-pointers, while Jacy Sheldon recorded 11 points off the bench, highlighted by a 3-for-3 night from behind the arc.

The Sun are still 13th in offense, posting just 74.6 points per game (PPG), while also ranking last in three-point shooting at 30.7 percent. They're 12th in field-goal percentage (40.4) while ranking last in points allowed (88.0) and defensive field-goal percentage (46.8).

The Liberty lead the WNBA with 87.9 PPG while allowing 81.4 PPG, ranking eighth, so this could be a high-scoring game, making it appealing for DFS purposes.

The Fever (15-12) and Wings (8-20) square off at American Airlines Center, but Caitlin Clark (groin) will remain sidelined.

Clark also missed the first meeting June 27 in Dallas, although the Fever still won 94-86.

The Wings should get one of their injured stars back, as Maddy Siegrist is expected to be back after missing seven weeks due to a fracture in her right knee.

These teams just met July 13 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, with Indiana winning 102-83 in a game Clark played. Kelsey Mitchell tallied 20 points, while Natasha Howard went for 18 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the field. Aliyah Boston was good for 17 points, and Sophie Cunningham also had 13 points off the bench, including two triples.

For betting purposes, the Over has cashed in seven consecutive meetings in this series, with the winning teams scoring at least 94 points in each of those seven matchups. The losing team has had at least 84 points, so definitely don't overlook the players here for DFS purposes.

WNBA DFS Showdown Picks and Lineup Building Strategy

The Valkyries (13-13) and Sky (7-19) meet at Wintrust Arena in Chicago, and Golden State is playing the second end of a back-to-back.

Golden State won 68-67 in Washington on Thursday in a game that was a bit sloppy. The Valkyries shot just 38.6 percent (22-of-57) from the field, while turning it over 14 times. They did have a plus-8 rebounding margin in the road win, but that's unlikely to happen against the Sky.

While Chicago will again be without Angel Reese due to a back injury, the Sky are still a very good rebounding team, especially as long as Kamilla Cardoso is in there. With Ariel Atkins also sidelined,  Rachel Banham could continue to step up, and she has played well lately. Kia Nurse and Elizabeth Williams should also be productive again.

WNBA DFS Showdown Picks and Lineup Building Strategy

The Mercury (16-10) and Dream (16-11) tangle in Atlanta in what might be the marquee game of the slate.

Phoenix racked up 101 points Wednesday, but they were on the short end of a six-point road loss to the Fever. The Mercury have dropped four of their last five games, and their offense has been a bit erratic.

In that loss in Indianapolis, Alyssa Thomas had a huge double-double, going for 32 points with 15 rebounds, seven assists and a block, although she also had eight turnovers. Fantasy managers aren't complaining too vehemently about the miscues, however, as that stat line was giant.

Kahleah Copper was also good for 22 points, but Satou Sabally, another prominent player for the Mercury, struggled with a 3-of-14 shooting night, recording just nine points before fouling out in 24 minutes. However, Sami Whitcomb stepped up with 18 points off the bench.

The Dream have won three of their last four games, racking up at least 88 points in each of the wins, all on the road.

WNBA DFS Showdown Picks and Lineup Building Strategy

The Sparks (11-15) and Storm (16-11) meet at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, and the Storm look to keep their collective foot on the gas.

Seattle has won five in a row in this series, and each of the past six installments since Sept. 10, 2023 have gone Over in terms of the betting total points. As a result, you can expect plenty of big fantasy stat lines here.

In the most recent meeting June 17, the Storm pounded the Sparks 98-67 in Los Angeles. However, the Sparks have been playing much better lately, and they recently welcomed back Cameron Brink.

Seattle recorded a 101-85 road win in Connecticut on Sunday, and it has alternated wins and losses in each of the past nine games.

The Sparks lost 89-74 to the visiting Aces on Monday, halting a five-game win streak. The Sparks still continue to struggle defensively, allowing at least 86 points in four consecutive games.

Top WNBA DFS Picks: Key Players to Watch

FanDuel

Boston should lead a very high offensive output for the Fever in a road game against the Wings, as she has really stepped up her game with Clark on the shelf. Boston has four straight double-doubles, averaging 16.0 points, 11.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game in four appearances since the All-Star break. Ionescu should lead the charge for the Liberty against the struggling Sun, even if the game is on the road, as Connecticut struggles defensively. Williams has a reasonable salary and a lot of upside against a defensively-challenged Sparks squad. McDonald had a giant game in place of Clark last time out, while Harrison should exceed DFS salary expectations since Stewart is out.

Unlocking Value: WNBA DFS Sleeper Picks

DraftKings

Gray is another option on the Dream who should be able to rack up some strong stats against the visiting Mercury. Diggins and the Storm look to pile up the points against the Sparks on the road, while Cardoso should be busy on the boards since Reese will be unavailable. Banham is also a good value, even though she isn't listed here. Looking to the value plays, Sheldon is a solid source of three-pointers, while Siegrist is expected to return after a long absence. There could be rust, but there is potential for a big game at this low salary.
